Welcome to First Baptist Church

Welcome to First Baptist Church of Bluefield! God has blessed us by allowing us to serve both Bluefields and both Virginias. He is doing great things here and we want you to be a part of it. Please check out our website and our Facebook page to learn more about us and what God is doing through us.

Our youth will be going on a mission trip to Puerto Rico. They will be helping out at Campamento del Caribe. Below is a video explaining and showing why it is vital for them to go!

First Baptist Church is invited to support the ministries of the Abel Pregnancy Resource Center by picking up a baby bottle, taking it home and then over the next six weeks filling it with your loose change (dollar bills and checks accepted). After this period of time, simply return your bottle to the church on March 13th. Please use the baby bottle, also, as a reminder to keep the Center in your prayers.

The Abel PRC is a place of hope and help for those making pregnancy decisions. The staff seeks to build relationships with each client, providing them with information and guidance that will lead them to a life-affirming pregnancy outcome. Besides reaching out to abortion-vulnerable men and women, the center also provides material resources through its Earn While You Learn program for those planning to continue their pregnancy; abortion recovery lay counseling for those who have experienced abortion; and an abstinence presentation called Choosing Healthy Options In Christ Especially with Sex (C.H.O.I.C.E.S.) for area youth groups.

By participating in Baby Bottle Blessings, you will join with over 50 churches and other groups to make it possible for the Abel PRC to continue to reach out to women facing an unintended pregnancy; caring for her and her unborn child.

Sunday Afternoon Women's Study will be Stronger by Angela Thomas. It's a 7 session video study with homework. We hope to begin the last Sunday in February (Sunday, February 28th, 2016). Please read the below description of the series found on Lifeway.com:

"Through biblical teaching and practical daily application, Stronger will help you realize you do not have to live in weakness. God is stronger than every struggle you will ever face. Because of Jesus Christ, your life has been hidden in Him, made alive in Him, filled in Him, brought near to God in Him, and blessed with every spiritual blessing in Him.

As we have received Christ Jesus, we are now called to walk in a manner worthy of Him. Strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in so great an inheritance. Today, because of Christ, you can live stronger. This study will guide women into biblical truth through exposition and story, so they live confident, transformed, Christ-radiating lives marked by His strength."
