The Scholarship Team is now accepting applications for scholarships provided through our church. Applications can be obtained in the Church office (or you can download it here) and must be returned (postmarked) by the June 1st deadline. All scholarships are awarded to students in good academic standing at accredited colleges or universities of their choice unless otherwise noted by a specific scholarship requirement.
Scholarships available are limited to church members only.
C. W. French& E. W. Ratliff Scholarship - For any student. Preference will be given to students attending Bluefield College.
McLaughlin Scholarship - For any student specifically attending Bluefield College.
Mrs. Clyde J. Stephens Scholarship - For a student specifically attending Bluefield College.
J. Ray Bailey Scholarship - For any student.
Memorial Scholarship - For any student preparing for positions that are not ministry related.
Ivan D. Halsey Scholarship - For any student pursuing an undergraduate degree and who is 17-23 years of age and meets the requirements listed above. (Awarded every two years, available 2021).
Robertson Foundation Scholarship - For any student entering church related vocations only. The recipient must sign a note of intention. If the applicant does not complete his/her course of study, abandons his/her calling, or does not complete five years of service following graduation, he/she must repay all funds received from this scholarship.
Harwood Memorial Scholarship - For any student attending the University of Richmond. Application is made to First Baptist and is then forwarded and handled by the Scholarship Committee of the University. This is a tuition scholarship of $550.

Join our Church Family at Bowen Field for a Blue Jay’s game on June 30th 2019. The picnic area in the stands will be reserved and snacks will be provided. This will be a great night of fellowship! Admission is free! So please feel free to come out and enjoy the game with us!
Following our morning service we will be having a church wide cookout. Join us as hear from Evan Abbey about his mission trip to Chile. At this time we will also be collecting donations for Sarah Moxley-White as she begins her ministry at Vigilant Hope in Wilmington, NC.
We would like to invite everyone to our Easter Services which begin on Friday April 19th with our Good Friday Service at 7 PM.
Then on Sunday April 21s, please plan to join us for a special Easter potluck breakfast at 9 AM. Bring a dish to share while the Church provides drinks. Sunday School and morning worship will follow.

The “Free Range” Sunday School Class would like to invite everyone to a food and game night on January 25 at 6:00pm at the church. We will have Bingo to Corn hole to Uno. All we ask is that you bring is a can of chicken noodle or tomato soup to donate to Blessing in a Backpack. This will be a great night for fellowship, fun and food.
Our Children and Youth Christmas Program will be this Sunday, December 16th at 5:30. Please join us for an evening of fellowship.

There will be two Bible studies beginning on Sunday February 25th. The first is our Women's Bible study by Priscilla Shirer, Discerning The Voice Of God. This will be a seven week study that will meet on Sundays at 4pm.
The next study will be for the Men's study by Kyle Idleman, Not A Fan. It will also be a seven week study that will meet the same time as the Women's Bible study.

We would like to remind everyone that there will be a Church work day on Saturday January 13 at 9 AM til 12 PM. Everyone is welcome to come and participate. Not only will we be doing maintenance and upkeep, but we will be doing some cleaning as well. There will be jobs for everyone and anyone willing to help.

The ERBA Annual Meeting is on October 26th at FBC of Princeton. Registration is at 4 PM, meeting at 4:30 PM. Dinner is at 6 PM and the second session starts at 7 PM. Please join us as we represent our Church.

Our Vacation Bible School "Galatic Starveyors: Discovering the God of the Universe" will be from July 10th thru 14th for ages PreK to 5th Grade. It will take place each day from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Our annual church picnic is this Sunday, June 4 at Graham Rec. Park in Bluefield, VA We will gather at 4pm and plan to eat at 5pm. Please bring your favorite covered dish (or two!) or your favorite dessert to share. We can't wait for this fun time of fellowship and hope you will join us!

On Saturday April 8th, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt at 10:30 AM for toddlers to 5th graders. There will be a light lunch provided for the children after the egg hunt.
On Sunday April 9th, our Choir will perform their Easter Cantata. Please come out for morning service to see our Choir perform their wonderful selection of music for the Easter Season.
We will also have a Good Friday Service on April 14th at 7 PM.
Please come out with us as we celebrate this wonderful time of year.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 8th at 10:30 am. We will have the egg hunt outside or inside, depending on the weather, and toddlers to 5th graders are invited to participate. There will be a lucnh provided for the childen after the egg hunt. Any candy or monetary donation from the congregation would be greatly appreciated. There will be a candy donation box in the Augusta Street foyer or speak to Kara Wikle for more details.
On Sunday March 19th we will have a Ham Dinner Fund Raiser for the Youth going to Music Camp. It will be directly after Sunday morning sermon. So please stay and enjoy the good food and fellowship.
We are excited to support Abel Pregnancy Resource Center with our 2017 Baby Bottle Campaign. Grab a bottle at the College Avenue Entrance and fill it with your loose change (or dollars and checks) and return them on March 26 2017!

You are all invited to the Children & Youth Christmas Music performance on December 11th 2016 at 6 PM. Come out and enjoy the birth of our savior Jesus Christ with musical performances from our children and youth groups.
Following the performance, they will be a reception with light snacks.
We are having a Church Wide Christmas Party honoring our over 65 members on December 3rd at 5:00 pm. Everyone with the exception of the members aged 65 and over is asked to bring a covered dish (meat will be provided). We will have a White Elephant gift auction and the proceeds will go to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
The Week of Prayer is your opportunity to join the work of missionaries around the world. Your prayers & gifts to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering will help the gospel continue throughout the nations as you send and sustain missionaries and their work.
First Baptist Church has been invited to Scott Street Baptist Church for a Thanksgiving Lunch on Sunday November 20th at 1:00 PM. Please bring a covered dish and join us as we celebrate together. The church bus will be available for transportation.
There will also be no service or rehearsals on November 23rd!
